Nutrition Tip #1- How Much Water Should a Person Drink Per Day?

There are several factors to keep in mind when determining the amount of water a person should drink everyday. These factors are:

  • Temperature
  • Activity level
  • Functional losses
  • Metabolic needs
  • Age and other dietary functions

I know, you are probably scratching your head right now, but try to keep this in mind; a sedentary woman should consume at least 9 cups of liquids per day, a sedentary man should consume about 12 cups per day. However, keep in mind, that very active persons require more fluids to offset losses. So, if you are not quite sure how much water to drink, ask your doctor or call your local nutritionist or certified personal trainer and they should be able to tell you the amount of water you need to stay well hydrated.
