Say “I Do” to In-Home Personal Fitness Training

You’ve booked your venue, found your vendors, and most importantly, said yes to the perfect guy AND dress. Now, you’ll just need to make sure that dream dress fits exactly the way you want it to on the big day! It’s easy to make the decision to stay in and skip the gym when you finally get the chance to sit down and relax after a hard day of work or running errands. For bride-to-be Michelle Segal, whose schedule can be quite hectic at times, it’s been easier to find time and motivation to get in shape for her wedding ever since she began training with me in the comfort of her own home. “I’ve found that if you’re trying to get in shape for your wedding, having a personal trainer can be one of the most beneficial ways to help you reach your fitness goals,” Segal says. “Eraldo has created a fitness program based on my goals to improve flexibility and lose weight, while sculpting muscle to get that slim, toned look.” Segal’s workout includes weight training with fast paced cardio in between to raise her heart rate and increase endurance. Some of the exercises we have been focusing on are squats, lunges, and a variety of chest, shoulder, back, core, tricep and bicep exercises. The individualized attention you get with a personal trainer in your own home will have you looking exactly how you want so you can strut down the aisle with confidence. I began training with Michelle in January and will be training with her for six months. I have no doubt that she will look stunning for her wedding in July. Because Michelle and I are still at the early stages of training, exercise technique is still the main objective. Being able to build a safe and solid foundation is a critical component in any training program. The right personal trainer will have you feeling your absolute best by motivating and encouraging you every step of your way during the journey to achieving your health and fitness goals. Before you say “I do” to your personal trainer, make sure he or she is right for you. You’ve already found Mr. Right, now find the right trainer! 5 Tips for Finding the Right Personal Trainer Before Walking Down the Aisle  1. Think about your fitness goals.  I offer my clients a free consultation when I meet with them to go over their goals and expectations, health history, nutritional guidance, and training methodology, so I advise them to give some thought to what they expect to achieve from training before we meet. You might already be slim and not looking to lose weight but want to get your arms tone for that strapless wedding dress. Maybe your main goal is to lose weight and spend less time working on building muscle. Knowing what your goals are will help you find a trainer that’s right for you. 2. Find a certified trainer.  Your personal trainer’s certification should be current and from an NCAA-accredited organization, such as the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA), National Academy of Sports...

When Being Health Conscious, Let’s Not Forget to Build Muscle

It seems that every time we generally talk about health, the first thing that comes to everyone’s mind is weight loss, which I have no issues about. After all, with so much influence from television, magazine articles and the internet,  how can anyone be expected to think otherwise? Case closed, right? Not so fast. Here is something else we should all start thinking more about: building muscle. That’s right… BUILDING MUSCLE! Let me list a few facts to keep in mind when you start working on your muscles: 1. Muscles burn more energy than fat. If you are fat with no muscle, your body will burn fewer calories, especially when you are inactive. The good news is that muscles burn more calories than fat, even when you are resting. A little effort to build some muscle pays off, many times over, with the benefits of fat burning. 2. If your body is covered with a healthy layer of muscle, it will be strong enough to support your skeleton. You will probably have fewer injuries related to falls. If you do injure yourself, you will be more likely to recover faster with fewer complications. Your body will be strong enough to compensate temporarily for your injuries. 3. In order to build muscle, you need to exercise. Exercising has numerous benefits for your health and well-being. You get to build muscle while you benefit from the increased oxygen supply, the increased blood supply and the mood enhancing benefits of exercise. The above are just a few of the many benefits of including a muscle-building program to your schedule. The evidence is overwhelming. Just remember to check with your doctor first and then hire a certified personal trainer to show you the proper way. You will not regret it. So the next time you hear someone bring up the topic of health make sure you tell them about importance of building muscle and you will definitely stand out in the crowd!...

Asking a Trainer Many Questions Will Help You Achieve Your Goals

Over the years, I have had the honor and privilege of helping many people in NJ achieve their fitness goals. The satisfaction I receive from helping others is a feeling that I truly love and wouldn’t trade for anything in the world. It’s one of the many reasons why I chose to become a personal trainer. Therefore, if I had to give one piece of advice to all of you, it would be to take advantage of  the opportunity to ask as many questions as you can when you see your personal trainer, because that is what we love to do. The health and fitness industry is constantly changing. Everyday there are new studies being conducted, new research analyzed and new equipment tested. After all, exercise is a science and science demands research and analyzing. So there are basically two things you can do to stay current with the latest in health and fitness: Do your own research through the news, magazines, blogs and social media. Ask a certified personal trainer as many questions as you can. My suggestion is to do both. You can never have enough information, especially when it comes to your health and well being. So the next time you see your personal trainer or attend a networking event, business expo or health fair make it a point to approach them and ask all those great questions you have regarding health and fitness. I guarantee you, at the very least, you will walk away with information that could put you on the path to a better and stronger you. And remember, ” Take care of your body today and it will take care of you tomorrow.”...
